Now there are other variables I am not accounting for, such as, supply and demand, leisure time, and the fact that with higher standard of living consumers maybe more interested in other forms of entertainment outside the realm of video games. However, it is without a doubt that those who were living in the U.S. from 1865 – 1960s had a much higher standard of living than those of today.
Sure, people back then did not have air conditioning, internet, television, cell phones. But those are all technological advancements that without a doubt improved our lives; however, since the destruction of our dollar far out exceeds the technological advancements that have been made, our standard of living has not increased but rather decreased. And for a consumer not only does this transition into higher living costs but also higher game costs.
So what if the dollar was as good as gold? Could you imagine the type of life we could be living in now? If you could afford to do other things on a regular basis do you think you’d still be an avid gamer (assuming you are) or would you venture into the other areas of life, such as traveling, exploring, education, and etc? Or perhaps you would expand your steam or game library ten fold? In the end, one could say that our standard of living would be much better than it is today.
