In Germany, many women stay at home and take care of the children and household chores while the men work. This used to be a promising feature here in America prior to the 1970's; however, with high rates of inflation, the women had to work along side with their husbands if the family wish to resume their standard of living. But unlike the U.S., today Germany's currency the EURO is worth much more than the U.S. Dollar. Therefore, Germans can afford to buy more goods, especially imported goods.
But besides the real rate of inflation, what we can say is that Americans are working much harder than other industrial nations. In fact, Americans put in about 130-350 more working hours per year than other countries. So it's no surprise that most of the top raiding guilds in World of Warcraft reside in Europe rather than North America, because more leisure time means more attempts at defeating a raid boss and more attempts equals a better chance at world's first.
If one has less leisure time today than one used too, it means that certain activities one would normally do during their off hours of work will be minimized. In other words, there is less time today for one to play MMOs or even video games, especially if one has a family.
